Ship Description

Postby Demon on Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:45 am

Hi everyone,

as one of my chars wants to order a new ship a question arose:

How long/how many lines can a ships description have? Is there a hardcoded limit?

Asking around among players and wizard I came up with the following answers (3 players, 2 wizards asked):

- 5 lines limit (1 player)
- no limit, but not sure, ask a wizard (1 player)
- no idea, ask a wizard (1 player)
- no answer (2 wizards)

Thus I post it in the forum and hope for an answer.

Oh, and no, I don't want to write a very detailed, hundres of lines long desc, but in some cases 5 or 7 lines make the difference.

I am not sure if there is a hardcoded limit, but it was agreed upon by most players and wizards that ships descriptions should not be extraordinary long, thus limited around 5 lines. Noone will shout if you get a 6th or 7th line I guess, but if you make your ship 20 or 30 lines, it might not be appreciated, even if possible.

I agree with not too long, nobody wants to read all of it. It's really the 6. and 7. line and of course curiosity since the question arose.

I believe it to be 5 lines too.

One problem I see with a new player and even with one of my ships when I was new, the description did get messed up badly (spellos and letters missing) . The new ones ship has repeated lines and he didnt know how to get the description changed and put right.

I was not sure myself how to tell him how to get the errors mended. Either the help file or the instructions on the completed ship being handed over want to be made a little clearer on how to correct any problems you may have with the description of the ship.
